It's the NFL, Baby!

On Wednesday evening this week, I had the opportunity to experience my first ever NFL game! I'm sure you're thinking, you... football... Yes, as a matter of fact, I like football, and I really like the NFL. So, this has been something I've wanted to do for quite some time now. I've been to plenty of baseball games, college football games, and even attended a NASCAR race (don't judge), but the NFL game is a first.

The Washington Redskins played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Although, it was a preseason game, it was still a blast! Matt was on duty and couldn't come, but my friend, Kimberly was able to join me. We headed to FedEx Field after work. It took about 1.5 hours to get there, and the traffic wasn't too bad (I can only imagine how it would be during a regular season game when the stadium is packed). We still didn't get there early enough to do much tailgating, but we were determined to plop out my beach chairs just so we could say we experienced it (all 15 minutes worth)!

When we got in the stadium, the sunset was beautiful, and I was able to get this shot!

We were being silly throughout much of the game. Kimberly desperately wanted to do the wave, so she initiated it all on her own, too bad the entire stadium didn't catch on until 15 minutes later! ;)

It was a fun, fun time! Now, I'm hoping I get to attend a regular season game next!!

Well, Matt and I are on our merry way to good 'ole NC! Can't wait to spend some quality time with our families. We will be soaking up the last few days of summer, and enjoying this Labor Day weekend.

What2Wear Wednesday

What2Wear Wednesday
It’s the beginning of something new. Something totally awesome... I call it “What2Wear Wednesday!” This is how it works: I post a new outfit each week (you would have never guessed). It can be simple, complicated, affordable, funky, fresh, trendy, polka dots, stripes, leather, cotton… You get the picture, right? So lets begin with outfit #1.

What2Wear: Office Glam

Shirt & Skirt: Forever 21, Shoes: Nine West, Belt: Thrifted, Necklace & Bracelet: Great Grandmother's costume jewelry
I promise to have better pictures next time!

Just ignore the remnants of a dog bone on the floor behind me. It happens... Well, now I'm off to my first ever NFL game! I'm pretty excited!! I'll be sure to share some pictures with y'all on Friday.

Crazy Schedules!

It’s Monday, and a new work-week has begun. I am excited that not only is this my short week (I get every other Friday off), but it’s also Labor Day weekend. Matt and I have made plans to visit North Carolina! I can’t wait to see family and spend time catching up with them all. Even though we were in NC this past May for my bother-in-law’s wedding, I started planning another trip since we arrived back in Maryland. It looks like this might be our only free weekend until Thanksgiving or maybe even Christmas!

Our schedule is jammed packed right now. I started working for a government contractor in June, and Matt continues to serve in the Coast Guard. His schedule isn’t the normal nine to five, and he has to stand duty every other weekend. So finding time to make long distance trips can be difficult. We also volunteer with the youth group at our Church. This has been such a blessing to both of us. With the new school year just beginning, we are about to switch back full-swing into the youth ministry. I can’t wait to catch up with all the kids, and encourage them throughout this year. Matt and I have also made a commitment to our small group that meets on Wednesday nights. This is also great way for us to stay connected with our church community!
Matt takes on even more by himself. I have to say that I am married to not only the most handsome man, but also the smartest, kindest, and most selfless person I’ve ever met. On top of his already full schedule, he volunteers with the Lexington Park Rescue Squad at least twice a month. Just last week, he also began as the assistant coach to a local high school varsity soccer team. Also, he is taking classes towards a master’s degree in intelligence. I am excited to say that he has maintained an “A” average in his studies so far! I’m so proud of him for his dedication and hard work. I just don’t know how he can juggle it all, but he makes the most of it! He’s always striving to serve others and do his very best. I know I’m biased, but I have the best husband ever! I seem to fall more in love with him every day.
Look at how handsome he is! <3

Well, I could make this entire post about my sweet husband, but I’ll save that for some other time. ;-) For now I’ll leave y’all with warm wishes for a grand week ahead!

Fabrics Galore

Happy Friday!

The weekend is almost here. I can taste it! Although I am all too thrilled about having the next two days off, Matt is stuck on duty this weekend. So, I am trying to decide what I can do that will make good use of my time alone in our apartment.
Our guest bedroom is lacking in many ways, so why not spend some time working on making the room come alive! I’ve started browsing different fabric options to use in the room. Lets just say, I am way too excited about all the pretty prints.
Heres some fabric eye candy for you to swoon over...

Running and Zombies

I have been trying to decide what I should blog about next, and for the longest time a drew a blank- I haven’t made any exciting new crafts, decorated the guest room (yet), or done much of anything exciting for that matter. Then I realized I should share with you all my new challenge!

Drum roll please…

I’ve set a goal to run a 5K in late October! For those of you that know me, you may be laughing hysterically at your computer screen right now. Truth is, I don’t think I’ve ever ran more than 1.5 miles (consecutively) in my life. Granted, I did play sports, I do go to the gym every now and then, and I’m not an unhealthy person. I just hate to run. I hate the feeling of not being able to breathe combined with feeling like I’m literally about to die. Yep, just not my idea of happiness, relaxation, or regeneration (words I’ve heard others say when they describe running). So, why did I come to the conclusion that I should attempt a 5K? Well the story goes, one of my friends and fellow Coastie wife, told me about this run called the Zombie 5K.
That’s right zombies… I mean who’s not obsessed with The Walking Dead right now??
Number one, how cool is that? Number two, the idea of running becomes secondary to the fact that I am being chased by flesh eating crazies. Now if that’s not motivation, I don’t know what is. It also turns out that, not only are there zombies, but there are obstacles to complete before crossing finish line. I talking about, climbing rope, hanging from monkey bars, and crawling through dark tunnels to just name a few. Yes, it appears I’m in for a heck of a 5K, I can only hope I survive this apparent apocalypse!
Maybe I was a little over-ambitious for my first 5K, but I do love a good challenge. Plus, I have started to “train” for the run which I am hoping will spawn new, healthy habits in my life. I really would like to enjoy running, but right now that still seems out of reach. So, I will continue to train, and be sure to keep you all posted on the run.
In the meantime, take a look at the website…

First post... Better late than never.

Welcome, welcome!

It has taken quite some time for me to write my very first blog. I first began thinking about blogging a little more than a year ago. And I actually created this blog a little less than a year ago. So coming to this very moment is monumental.

This is blog to document, doodle, dazzle, draft, and dilly-dattle in the life and love of me, my husband, and our sweet little pup, Flip. Trust me when I say this will be a blog of randomness, but it will definitely be tons of fun.

So, let's start with an introduction via Instagram, because they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Plus, it's just another way to catch up on what you have missed, since I've prolonged this blog so much.

Flip kisses are always welcome, and often expected.
